Sexual Harassment at Work

Sexual Harassment at Work

From 26 October 2024 employers have a positive legal duty to take reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment of its workers.  Remember, this is not just female employees but applies to male employees too.

It is extremely important that you take this new legal duty seriously.

Managers must be properly trained in their duty to take reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment of its workers.  This will prevent your business from:

  • discriminating against employees and workers; and
  • avoiding the 25% uplift in compensation claims if one of your managers or another worker or employee ‘accidentally’ discriminates against an employee/worker.

As an employment law solicitor and tribunal advocate, I have designed a new training course designed to help employers understand:

  • their legal responsibilities in relation to harassment and victimisation at work
  • the steps they should take to prevent harassment and victimisation at work
  • what they should do if harassment or victimisation occurs
  •  how to respond to complaints of harassment or victimisation

This course provides examples to illustrate some of the practical steps employers of different sizes and types can take to eliminate harassment in the workplace.   It can be delivered online to your managers, via teams etc, or in person.

The training alone will go a long way towards protecting your business but as part of the programme we will also update your policies in relation to bullying and harassment and provide you with a comprehensive review of your potential exposure to claims of discrimination generally.
