Are you making the most of your ISA?
Life is not a rehearsal and the same can be said for the planning needed to secure your financial future.
At St. James’s Place Wealth Management we take the time to understand your individual needs to help orchestrate the right long-term investment strategy.
Your annual ISA allowance forms an increasingly valuable part of that plan, whether to provide income now or in the future, or to build a capital sum. That is why it is so important to find an investment solution that gives you the opportunity to help ensure the tax advantages of your ISA portfolio are maximised*.
If your ISA portfolio is not working hard for you then you are effectively wasting your allowance. That is why it is so important to monitor your investments and keep them under regular review. Yet a study by Legal & General Investments revealed that seven in ten investors with over £50,000 in their ISA admitted to taking just two hours or less to review their holdings each year (source: Moneyfacts, 25 March 2011). How are your investment managers performing? Is your fund choice still right for you? Do you need to improve the income- generating potential of your ISA portfolio? Are you happy with the service you’re receiving? When was the last time your portfolio was reviewed?
You may have chosen to invest in a Cash ISA but with interest rates remaining at record lows, and widely expected to do so whilst the economic recovery remains fragile, it’s very likely that savers are losing money in real terms. The average rate of interest on cash ISAs is just 0.61% per annum (source: Hargreaves Lansdown, 12th March 2012.) In the current climate, many investors are realising that they may need to look beyond traditional cash deposits if they are going to achieve their financial goals. However, investors should be aware that investing in a Stocks and Shares ISA does not provide the security of capital associated with a Cash ISA Furthermore, although it is possible to transfer the proceeds of a Cash ISA to a Stocks and Shares ISA, it is not possible to transfer a Stocks and Shares ISA to a Cash ISA.
Understanding your needs
At St. James’s Place Wealth Management we’re committed to offering face-to-face advice so that we can understand completely your needs and offer an investment solution that’s right for you. We have a distinctive approach to investment management; one which utilises the expertise and experience of some of the top investment managers from across the world, who specialise in strategies aimed at obtaining attractive levels of income and capital growth through investment in UK and international equities, fixed interest securities, commercial property and alternative assets.
We recognise that choosing how to invest your money can seem daunting and so to help you choose investments that are appropriate to you, we also offer a range of carefully constructed, risk-rated portfolios. Some of the portfolios are specifically designed to provide income, whilst others aim for capital growth.
It is important to remember that a Stocks and Shares ISA offers a wider range of investment options which can help cushion you from the ups and downs of stock markets. Our range of portfolios enables you to spread your investments across a wide range of asset types and countries, and to choose fund managers with different investment styles to create a balanced and diversified investment solution.
We believe our approach is ideally suited to helping investors get the most from their ISA portfolios. If you are considering transferring your existing ISA portfolio and believe our investment approach can help you achieve your long term goals, I would be delighted to provide you with further details.
