NAVIGATING SUCCESS: Trauma doesn't have to be Traumatising

NAVIGATING SUCCESS: Trauma doesn't have to…

Trauma is a frequently used term these days. 'I was really traumatised by __________________'. But, just because an event was serious, unexpected or shocking doesn't necessarily mean that it's destined to become a locked-in traumatic state that will affect you for ever. (By the way, if you've got one of those, it can easily be released.)

The human brain is equipped with processes to handle traumatic people, situations or circumstances and mainly it does. We might remember it, replay it in our minds, wonder how bad it could have been and, over time, become generally thankful that we got through it.  But sometimes it does stick.

You won't necessarily remember the event, but you will always remember the 'Wound' it caused. At conscious level, you might be not aware of feeling neglected, rejected or abandoned, unloved or not worthy; but the wound is still there and there are many other childhood wounds to be gathered as we go.

Then we grow up... and we're still living the wound!  Trust me, being a CEO with rejection issues is very inconvenient; and it's not much fun either.
