Background

Our client had a repeat order for an external fence banner that had been produced on a number of occasions with the same supplier before the relationship with The Production Agency began.

The ‘norm’ was that the client advised the supplier of the volume, receiving a price in return to create a purchase order and the job produced. All good you may think…

What is wrong with this?

The producing supplier held all the cards. They were the ones with the technical specification, and were deemed the experts with the client happy to leave this with them as ‘the supplier knows the job’.  The client believed that it was more effort (and risk) to move this job, they didn’t have a specification and believed therefore it could not be moved.

At The Production Agency we believe that all aspects of the project are owned by our clients, that includes the technical specification which can be the key to making changes.

The solution

The Production Agency used category expertise to recreate a specification based on asked questions about size, where the product would be used and for how long.

With this specification we were able to tender to market using our audited supplier base, taking into account capability, capacity and relevant product experience.

We supplied live proofs from customer artwork on an alternative job stock for approval.

The result

This activity made a significant saving of over £10,500 to the client’s marketing budget and a improvement of 2 days on the schedule with a product that delivers the clients message on brand on time.
