People are worrying about the economic downturn. Here's how to adapt your marketing strategy and stay ahead of the competition.

Fact: Buyers will become more hesitant.

That hesitancy does not equate to a quiet pause.
Buying cycles will lengthen. During that lull, the buyer will be actively

  • researching
  • seeking trust signals
  • filling knowledge gaps
Buyers will have increased dread of making bad choices with scarce resources. This will affect their online activity.

They will actively google topics such as:

  • problems
  • risks
  • things that could go wrong
  • options they don't see
  • am I a good fit?
  • comparisons

Websites must meet buyers in this hesitant buyer journey to help them purchase.

The problem is that most content shouts out:

  • buy now!
  • no problems, just benefits!

It won't do in 2024 when people become more sceptical.

Advice:
In Q3 of 2023, start preparing content that aligns with the hesitant buyer journey.
