“An ounce of prevention exceeds a pound of cure” - Things you possible didn’t know about Stress

Stress is the most renowned silent killer alongside cancer and yet we have allowed it to reach almost epidemic proportions in the last two decades - why? Due to the sheer complexity of this subject, there are no straight forward answers, partly because we tend to over analyse its effects, rather than causes. However, the true causes of stress are situated right within ourselves or more precisely within the complex matrix of our inner psycho-physiological misalignments.

So what does this mean? Everything in this reality was created by the constant interactions of our active and passive thoughts - hence age old saying “beware of what you wish”. As thoughts are seedlings of our realities, they are also the sole drivers of our prevailing emotional states, such as: elations, fulfillments, fears, doubts etc… Together they help navigate our lives experiences, which either make us successful or not. Depending on how we manage our expectations (emotional states), our emotional responses will be either positive or negative and they will ultimately dictate the state of our overall wellbeing. At the same time, our thoughts and emotions are receptive to external stimuluses that are simply reflecting our present belief systems and values or in other words our own self perceptions. When all those variables start to clash with our expectations (belief system and personal values), they usually become stressors, which over a period of time lead to a system disorder or stress.

So what are the stressors? Due to our highly externalised ways of being, we always search for causes of our emotional misbalances outside of our own beings. Psychology recognises two types of stressors: physiological stress is usually expressed in the form of cold and hot external conditions, hunger, chronic illnesses, injuries, chronic pains etc. Psychological stress on the other hand is presented in a myriad of forms and shapes and is predominantly consisted of negative experiences or things that we perceive unpleasant, threatening or detrimental to what we wish to experience. These conditions are so far reaching that even positive experiences can be stressful too, because of the higher levels of emotional exertions that they impose on to our fragile emotional structures. They could be anything from weddings, new jobs, graduations, sporting achievements, job promotions, first cars, first loves etc… So whenever you’re not balanced from within, i.e, you’re regularly swinging from one end of the emotional pendulum to another, there is a distinct possibility that you could subconsciously influence incorrect physiological functions, such as shallow breathing and incorrect posture. This of course is not a great way to carry yourself, because you will not only starve your sympathetic nervous system of valuable oxygen, which is detrimental for your correct sub cellular functioning, but you will also aggravate it further with your bad posture. All this together will narrow the energy circulation within your body, which will further undermine your overall ability to function correctly.

In addition, we have natural inclinations to be negative about our lives experiences, hence seriously sabotaging our already vulnerable sympathetic nervous and endocrine systems with the final consequences leading to serious inner misalignments. Externally such lack of conscious awareness of what is going inside will be expressed in various forms of worry, apathy, lack of focus, fears, self doubts etc… As a consequence, some people might start over eating, smoking or even abusing alcohol or possibly indulging in other forms of substances. They might also experience irregular sleep patterns, work too long hours or generally experience irregular work/life balance, which are responsible for further destabilisation of their already fragile mental and physical states. This then brings us to the point that whatever we allow to permeate on our conscious screens (thoughts) and unconscious (emotions), we will inevitably experience in our physicality, as the state of our health, wellbeing and overall lifestyle.

The above represents one of the worst case scenarios and you may rightly say that it doesn’t apply to you, because you don’t smoke, drink and possibly you have great exercise regime and lifestyle. But how well do you control your thoughts and emotions, when confronted by outside challenges, particularly those of negative nature? In most circumstances, you become most vulnerable to stress when “uncontrolled external reality” starts throwing everything and anything at you.

We all know this, but why are we allowing this to happen? Even though you are faced with a number of tasks bombarding you from outside, it is you who is ultimately allowing them to affect you. Remember that nothing and no one can affect you, unless you allow it emotionally. So everything falls down to you and how you manage yourself, which represents interpretation of your emotional attachments to those outside events. Either you will allow them to control you or you will control them. Choice is always yours, but you must know that you cannot be in control of your life and external events, until you grasp a complete control of your own being. That comprises a full control of your lifestyle, which will then grant you with a greater understanding of your inner world. All this together will help you become the “best you can be”, because they will positively influence your cognitive awareness of yourself for greater decision making process going forward.

“An ounce of prevention exceeds a pound of cure” or in other words, your health has literally no price, because it is essential for the maximisation of your life’s experiences. If you think that this doesn’t apply to you right now, because you’re already healthy and “in the right place” - think twice. Nothing in this reality is static and if you don’t actively work on your health and wellbeing, it will unfortunately deteriorate over a period of time. Also, if you are fortunate enough to be healthy right now, you have then a myriad of reasons to further fortify that condition by effectively consolidating the totality of your being. We at E.S. are proud to announce our brand new programme “Journey into Self Awareness”, which encompasses all parts of your physical and psychological wellbeing, starting from your thought control, mental and emotional focus/strength, as well as mind programming for the achievement of required levels of personal excellence. As stated above, we are working on the whole and that means that our processes involve both mental and physical exercising, which you will need to practise on a daily basis, if you wish to achieve your set personal development objectives.

Due to many technological advances, majority of people nowadays still prefer quick fixes and instant results. Naturally, that's not possible when it comes to personal development. Because you were not created overnight and it has taken you very long time to become who you’re right now and therefore, you must allow yourself plenty of time, effort and dedication to recreate your new self. We can show you how to do it and if you follow our lead, you will see big changes unfolding in your life. If you wish to learn more about our programme, please visit our website: www.myespritsain.com for more information.

In our first module, you will learn about the key aspects of effective stress management (both internal and external), as well as facilitation of your personal empowerment via greater thought control for more advanced emotional stability and decision making skills. You will also evaluate some critical aspects of your current lifestyle and will start creating a robust plan for further insulation from external stressors for more effective protection of your emotional states and the overall wellbeing.
