After a lovely week off work I am back to the office today. Planning for some exciting projects that are coming up and also finding interesting things to share with the professionals community.
I have been networking loads over the past few months as part of my plan to grow my business and one of the things I am finding is that HR is a little misunderstood!
Some people think it is just admin work - holidays records, expense claims, return to works after sickness etc. or stuff that an employment solicitor will do (there is a crossover on the employment law side but definitely different specialities, angles etc. and cost!). Not many people have immediately thought of the value that strategic HR can add, the link between getting the business objectives aligned with the people strategy, talent management, workforce and succession planning, employee engagement.
Sure you have to have the HR basics right like - contracts, job descriptions, employment policies which is an HR experts bread and butter, but it can be so much more!
