• Thinking of hiring your first employee? Here are some of the things you need to think about...

    • First of all think .. do I actually need an employee yet? Could you get help from a freelancer such as a virtual assistant who can help with the day to day admin? They can be more expensive on an hourly rate than staff members but you only need to pay for the hours you use, which can be really helpful when first starting out.

    • Now you have established that you do need a member of staff you have to decide what exactly do you need them to do. You need to nail down the job description and tasks you are going to expect them to do. People need to be clear about what role they are applying for or they won't apply.

    • Then think about what salary you're going to offer? If you don't have a clue where to start don't guess. I can help you benchmark the salary against similar roles in the area, whilst still aligning with your budget.

    • Final thing, you need to have a think about if you have the legal documents in place. At this point you dont need to worry about fancy policies. But by law you need to issue a contract of employement before there first day of employment.

    • If this all seems a little overwhelming I have a package to help you through this exciting time.

The package is £250 and includes:

    •   Help and advice on the recruitment process (drafting job description, salary, where to advertise)
    •  Tailor-made contract of employment and basic policies required by law
