Summary
I am Fiona Brewin of Signature Therapy and I practice counselling and psychotherapy from the The Hale Village Therapy Centre which is between Altrincham and Wilmslow in south Manchester.
As a Counsellor, how can I help you?
I can help you to gain insight and understanding into your behaviour by exploring the associated thoughts and feelings.
I can help you to let go of feelings and thoughts within a safe, confidential, non judgemental and accepting environment.
I can help by supporting you as you make new decisions and positive changes to create a better more effective way of living.Counselling & Psychotherapy
Is it for me?
Many people seeking counselling are often feeling confused, depressed, angry and distressed…
“I don’t know which way to turn …what to do …what’s the matter with me?”
You may feel dissatisfaction with life or have lost your direction or sense of purpose.
Counselling provides an experience for you which is rarely possible with friends or family. I will help you to explore bottled up feelings by listening attentively and patiently without judgement or advice, allowing you to express freely and openly. Often, the experience of being listened to and heard will give you clarity, understanding and peace. In this private and confidential setting you can gain self-respect and personal value through having your feelings acknowledged, and so being accepted and respected as a person in your own right.
Counselling is a process which will focus on current day problems with the aim to develop more effective strategies and resources to move you through your difficulties.
Counselling may end after a few sessions or it may continue over several weeks or many months. As you begin to feel better many people also feel physically energised and more able to initiate change.
Psychotherapy
In many ways the process of psychotherapy is very similar to the process of counselling. Essential to each, is the developing relationship between us, in that as trust is built up, I will encourage you to look at aspects of yourself or your relationships with others, that you may not have thought of before or have even felt able to face before. I will help you to go deeper into your values and beliefs through the exploration of your early child relationships, to discover how you react to certain people or situations in certain ways that worked well for you when you were a child, but may well now contribute to your difficulties as an adult.
Psychotherapy is often a much longer process than counselling and aims to uncover the roots of ineffective, repetitive and life long thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
As insight and understanding are achieved, support and new strategies are opened up to you to help you find a small but crucial point where it would be possible to begin change.
